When Stan left the Trojans, he was actively involved with several clubs across the region. He did return to the Trojans in 1988, by which time, three of his sons had played for the Trojans.
Stan was also actively involved in junior and youth baseball across the Merseyside region. Stan, together with Norman Wells were invited to manage and coach the newly formed youth team, Ince Blundel Freebirds. Together they were successful in taking the Freebirds to the National Youth Cup Final, played in Nottingham.
Stan also formed and managed the Aintree Indians, were he was able to introduce several good new players into the Merseyside league.
The last youth team he formed was a team based in Fazakerley, for whom Stan had personally supplied all the equipment and uniforms with money from his own pocket.
Although that was the last team he coached, Stan never left the baseball scene. He was a keen supporter of the Liverpool Trojans. Sadly, ill health prevented Stan from attending many games last season. However, Stan will always be remembered as one of the North West's greatest advocates of the game of baseball.
What is not readily known, is that Stan, in his younger days, was an excellent social entertainer. His version of 'We're a couple of swells' was top class entertainment.
