Game 1 Summary :
The Liverpool Trojans were playing their first game following the loss of their enigmatic player/manager Mike Waisome, who returned to New York following four successful years at Liverpool. The whole of the Trojans organization want to wish him every success and happiness in his new career.
Liverpool meanwhile traveled north for a double header against the Sheffield Bladerunners, and despite the bright sunshine, there was a cold wind for the players to contend with.
Paul Smith maintained his rich run of form at the plate, and quickly got the Trojans off the mark with a 2 RBI double in the first, driving in Alan Alger and Dave Baez. Martin Godsall also kept true to form striking out two in the first to put Liverpool firmly in the driving seat. Errors in the infield from Sheffield allowed the Trojans to extend their lead by one in the second, as Godsall added another couple of strikeouts to close out the second.
Sheffield displayed some good defensive work in the next couple of innings, turning a double play to keep the game within reach. A base hit and a bunt even saw the Bladerunners claw back a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth to draw within one, however this only acted as a wake up call for the Trojans, who stormed further ahead in the fifth with a six run inning. Paul Smith hitting a homer in a 4 RBI inning, with Ian Smith and Ian Blease driving in two more.
Liverpool extended their lead in the sixth with 2 RBI's from Godsall, who was showing no signs of weakness on the mound, despite his age. New boy Jordan Lynn, made a decent contribution with a base hit RBI in the seventh, followed by RBI's for Paul Mason and Alan Alger. Martin Godsall closed the game in style with 2 strikeout's, making a total of 10k's for the game.

Game 2 Summary :
Second game of the double header started slowly for the Trojans, mainly due the pitching of Sheffield's Eric Wills. Alan Alger's double was cashed in by Ian Smith, but generally Wills contained the Liverpool attack.
Ian Smith on the mound for Liverpool, quickly found a rhythm and struck out four of the first six batters he faced. Sadly for Sheffield, things quickly went downhill as starting pitcher Wills retired from the mound with arm trouble. A succession of walks and pass balls in the third saw the game slowly slip away from the Bladerunners. There was a glimmer of hope for Sheffield in the third as Ian Smith began to tire in his first outing of the season, but base hits for John Gill and Paul Smith, plus a base clearing double for Paul Mason secured the result for Liverpool.
A 2 RBI triple from Dave Baez in the fifth was the icing on the cake for the Trojans, scoring Andy Heap and Ian Smith. Godsall resumed on the mound and made easy work of the final innings.
The Trojans next game will be against the Halton Jaguars at Bootle Stadium, Sunday 10th of May.
