Game 1 Summary :
The Trojans are now in a position were every game is a must win game in order to not fall too far behind league leaders Harrogate. With this in mind, the Trojans fielded a near full strength side against an under performing Patriots side.

The Patriots pitching weakness showed early on, as a succession of walks gifted the Trojans an early lead. Had it not been for a well turned double play in the first, the Trojans could have doubled their 3 run advantage. Martin Godsall, starting for the Trojans, got off to his usual strong start and struck out 7 of the first nine batters he faced.

The second inning found the Patriots in more trouble as Harry Wren's single drove in two runs to extend the Trojans lead. But by the third inning things began to settle down for the Patriots as the Trojans found it harder to get on base.

Paul Mason's great effort and energy behind the plate was rewarded with the only other run of the game, a well hit double to center field.

The ever reliable Martin Godsall ended the game with 12 strikeout's in a well deserved victory for Liverpool.

Game 2 Summary :

Injuries to Paul Smith and Ian Blease ruled them out of the second game, so Liverpool looked to their bench for replacements. With a rookie outfield of Andy Heap, Jordan Lynn and Sean Manning, plus many other players playing out of position, the Trojans were in for tough battle.

Did somebody mention Godsall and reliable in the same sentence? Maybe it was a case of too much mid game tucker. But whatever the reason, Godsall struggled in his first inning of work in the second game. A lead off walk, a hit batter, four successive hits, infield and outfield errors, a nightmare start for the Trojans. Game over..

Ian Smith took over the pitching duties in the second and shut the Patriots down from that point forward. If only we could have the first inning all over again.

Despite the magnificent efforts of Smith on the mound and Mason behind the plate, the Trojans batters couldn't hit a cow's arse with a shovel. Menwith did display a strong defensive game, but given what was at stake, Liverpool were just unable to mount any sustained attacks.

The Trojans only run came from Ian Smith, who then got caught napping on first and was picked off. Sometimes it's just not your day.
