Game 1

Game 1 Summary :
The rain mercifully held off as the Trojans returned to action following a five week lay off. Liverpool took on the Manchester Torrent at Allen field, for a double header bathed in glorious sunshine between the dark clouds.

The game started slowly for the Trojans as lack of game play clearly affected the timing of Liverpool's hitters. Ian Marchment, pitching for the Torrent, showed good command in the early innings keeping the Trojans down to low scoring innings. The Torrent infield also played their part, making good plays off the slow infield.

It wasn't until the fourth inning that the Trojans came to life, Paul Smith sparking the charge with a majestic 3 run homer. Brother Ian, was in total control on the mound giving up just one earned run off five hits and ten strikeouts.

Liverpool's concentration slipped a little in the bottom of the fifth giving up two runs, however an eight run sixth inning onslaught ensured a comfortable victory for the Trojans.

Game 2

Game 2 Summary :

With a game under their belt, the Trojans returned to their best and quickly established an early seven run lead. A lack of control on the mound from Manchester's Dane Carney, saw an early pitching change as Paul Fagan came on in relief of the Torrent starter. Fagan steadied the ship, however the damage was already done and the game had slipped away from Manchester.

Following his usual slow start, Martin Godsall soon found his rhythm, and despite giving up two runs in the first, showed good control allowing just 3 hits in five innings work with 7 strike outs.

Next week is the pivotal match of the season for the Trojans as Liverpool take on league leaders Harrogate Tigers at Bootle. The Tigers remain unbeaten this season. Bring it on..
