Game 1 Summary :
A 30 minute rain delay in the first game of the double header didn't dampen the spirits of the unbeaten Trojans. Ian Smith, starting for the Trojans, made a shaky start against the hard hitting Pilots, giving up a couple of hits and a run in the top of the first. The Trojans reply was emphatic, scoring five against the pitching of Barry Webb. 2 RBI's for the improving Jordan Lynn, plus a couple for Ian Smith and Paul Mason.

Ian Smith ran into trouble again in the top of the second, following a couple of base hits, the Pilots soon closed the deficit to one run. The Trojans second was a tale of missed opportunities. With the bases loaded twice, Liverpool were only able to add one run to the total, leaving the bases full.

Harry Wren made a welcome return from his world tour, and despite not having played for two seasons, soon made his mark with a two run double in the third to extend the Trojans lead. In the top of the fourth, Humber hit their way back into the game. A couple of walks and a three run homer saw the Pilots draw level. Ian Blease restored Liverpool's advantage with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning, however the Trojans were feeling the pressure.

Top of the fifth saw Smith strike the side out as Humber were unable to sustain any momentum from the previous inning. Andy Heap driving in the only run in a quite fifth. An injury to John Gill saw player/manager Rob Alger take over in left field. An error from the left fielder allowed a hard hit ball to reach the fence allowing two runs to score. The Pilots finished their half of the sixth with a three run lead.

The Trojans however showed why they're unbeaten this season, and soon regained the lead thanks to RBI's from Jordan Lynn, Harry Wren and Ian Smith. A wild pitch allowed Godsall to score the go-ahead run. The Trojans brought on Martin Godsall for the top of the seventh in a save situation. Godsall delivered the goods, allowing the Trojans a well earned one run victory.

Game 2 Summary :

Right on cue, the rain started with the first pitch of game two. Martin Godsall doesn't seem to mind a spot or two of rain and his control was not an issue. Godsall gave up a couple of hits as the Pilots put the first run on the board, but recovered to end the inning with a couple of strikeouts. Hits for Ian Blease, Dave Martin-Baez and Harry Wren put Liverpool two up with a three run inning.

Both pitchers were showing good control despite the worsening conditions. Humber pulled a run back in the top of the third, but it was Liverpool who took control. Ian Smith ran out an inside the park homer to drive in two runs and the reliable Harry Wren drove in the third.

Godsall struck out the side in the fourth to allow Liverpool to extend their lead as Humber committed a series of errors to compound their misery.

The rain became heavier and colder and after a very brief discussion with umpire Delorenzo, the game was abandoned to the relief of everyone concerned. Beer's colder than rain, but it tastes better.
