Game 2 Summary :
Andy Matinez teamed up with catcher Andy Bulger for a grueling game of baseball that was packed full of drama and incident. The Trojans appeared to be cruising to a repeat of the fist game where the Eagle batters found it hard to maintain any rhythm against the Trojans pitching. However, things changed in the bottom of the fourth when the Eagles rallied for a three run inning to set the nerves jangling. Ian Blease Showed great composure not reacting when for the second time today and the fourth this season he was hit by pitcher. To compound his misery he was not awarded the base either time for not being able (or not wanting to?), get out of the way quick enough.
Martinez appeared to be tiring, or maybe just tired of trying to figure out which strike zone to aim for. Godsall came on in relief, but was unable to stop the Eagles taking a well earned lead.
The Trojans weren't down yet, and tied the game in the top of the seventh with an RBI single from Evengi Zapryanov. The go-ahead run came in extra innings when Chris Hughes hit a two base RBI with one out.
The task of holding on to the slender lead was given to Dave Gary. Despite not having pitched for four seasons, Gary looked composed and got the job done thanks to some solid defense. Paul Smith, at shortstop went deep into the hole to athletically throw out the runner at first for the second out of the inning. Not to be outdone, Chris Kumeta showed his range at second, to field a ball on the shortstop side and gunning the runner out at first with a nice throw on the run, to end the game.
