Game 1 Summary :
A three game series was scheduled over the weekend with one game on Saturday and two games on Sunday. However, the Saturday game was cancelled due to heavy overnight rain. This left the Trojans with a dilemma, either spend the day discussing tactics and preparing for Sunday's game, or go the pub. Tough choice...yeah.
What seemed like a good decision on Saturday, turned into the wrong decision on Sunday morning, with many players
unable to remember their own names ... but nothing a good bacon buttie won't sort out.
Ian Smith drew the short straw, starting on the mound for the Trojans and despite the moving strike zone, Smith pitched four scoreless innings.
Mike Waisome's three run homer in the second gave Liverpool a comfortable cushion as the senses slowly returned.
By the bottom of the fifth, Ian Smith, began to loose the strike zone. With nobody out and the bases loaded, Smith may have thrown one too many pitches as Scott Spurlock unloaded the bases with a grand slam homer restoring Edinburgh's confidence. Mike Waisome came on in relief of Smith and closed out the inning without further scoring.
In a show of defiance, Ian Smith quickly restored his dignity by driving in a solo shot in the top of the sixth. Despite Edinburgh adding two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, the Trojans held on to their advantage.

Game 2 Summary :
Martin Godsall had recovered sufficiently from the previous night's activities to take part in the second game. Godsall threw a no-hit complete game shutout, and if that wasn't enough, Godsall hit a three run homer in the top of the fourth for good measure. Maybe we should pay for him to get drunk every week. The only base runners allowed by Godsall were there because of defensive errors.
Brent Owen, on the mound for the Diamond Devils, struggled to contain the fully recovered Trojans offense and was eventually replaced on the mound in the fourth by first game starter, Jason Derr.

The Liverpool Trojans now look set to win the league for a second consecutive season, with their nearest rivals, the Hull Hammerheads five games adrift. The Hammerheads are the next opponents for the Trojans with a double header scheduled for 7th August at Bootle Stadium.
A special thank's to James Clevenger who played his last game for the Trojans and return's to the States this week. James has provided the Trojans with many entertaining moments and will be missed greatly.
And finally, congratulations to Rob Orme who celebrated his 40th birthday this week, despite not looking a day over 39.
