Game 1 Summary :
The Liverpool Trojans faced their toughest challenge this season when they took on the Edinburgh Diamond Devils in the double header played at Bootle Stadium.
Martin Godsall went head to head with Edinburgh starter, Err, in what seemed to be a low scoring affair with neither team able to break the deadlock early on. A breakthrough came for Edinburgh in the top of the third when an error at first allowed a baserunner aboard, who was eventually driven home. Errors began to creep into the play as Liverpool battled their way though the game. Paul Smith managed a one out triple in the bottom of the fourth, but was left stranded as the Trojans went into the 5th one run down.
A fielding error from the Diamond Devils allowed the first base runner in an explosive bottom half of the 5th for the Trojans. Liverpool effectively killed off the game with a powerful display of hitting and aggressive base running. Ian Smith drove in the first run in a 3 RBI inning, followed by 2 RBI's from Paul Smith and Chris Kumeta.
Godsall contained the Edinburgh batter's to end the game with 7 K's off 4 hits.

Game 2 Summary :
A better start for the Diamond Devils in the second game as they took an early 2 run lead. Dave Gary on the mound for the Trojans, found it hard to curb the Devils offense, as he struggled with several bases loaded situations. The Trojans reply was swift and they soon regained the lead in the second inning.
The third inning saw errors in the Trojans defense, allowing the Diamond Devils to add further pressure to the Trojans starter. David Gary left the game tied in the top of the fourth to be replaced by Dominican born, Andy Martinez. Martinez struggled with control early on and the lead was handed back to the Devils. The Trojans ended the fourth with a well executed 1-3-2 double play, Paul Mason blocking the plate to prevent further scoring.
Lefty, Mike Waisome, came on to pitch trailing 8 - 6 in the fifth inning and did a great job to hold the Edinburgh batters scoreless allowing the Trojans to chip away at the Edinburgh lead.
Chris Kumeta caused problems all game for the Diamond Devils pitchers stealing a total of 5 bases. It was Kumeta who scored the winning run after being hit by a pitch for a second time, only to put himself into scoring position by stealing second. Robbie Orme advanced the runner to third with a base hit. Alan Alger drove in the winning run on an error by the right fielder who had difficulties judging the ball coming out of the sun.
The Trojans now have a commanding lead at the top of the table, with nearest rivals Hull due to visit on June 9th.
