Game 1 Summary :
Liverpool came to Menwith knowing they had already secured the league title, therefore both games were academic as far as the results were concerned, so the games were treated as a warm up for the Final Four Championships, next weekend.

The Trojans were missing several key players including player/coach Mike Waisome and Ivan Peychev, who was stranded without transport. Call up's for veteran first baseman, Rob Nesbitt, and even more veteran catcher, Rob Alger, gave the Trojans an interesting lineup.

The much improved Paul Mason, led off for the Trojans with a well hit double into left field, but it was to be a story repeated throughout the game, as Liverpool were unable to cash in the base runners. The Patriots, by contrast, got off to a great start and hit well to gain a three run advantage at end the first.

Martin Godsall regained his composure in the second inning, retiring the side in order, only to run into trouble again in the bottom of the third. A three run homer from the Patriots quickly doubled their lead.

It took until the sixth inning for the Trojans to score a run. Base hits from Ian Smith, Dave Mercado and Paul Smith, loaded the bases for Ian Blease to knock in a couple of runs.

The Trojans fighting spirit took over in the top of the seventh as six runs crossed the plate, including a three run shot by Dave Mercado. The Trojans ended the game with the tying run at third, but were a hit short of a famous comeback.

Game 2 Summary :

The Trojans found it hard to get into the second game following a round of pizza's from the nearby bowling center. But it was the pitching of Menwith's Brian Zenda that stole the show. Zenda threw a one hitter to completely dominate the Trojans offence.

Ian Smith, making only his third start of the season, had one really bad inning in the second, which effectively killed the game off as a contest. The game ended tamely on the slaughter rule in the fifth, but the real contest begin's next weekend, as both teams travel south to Croydon for a chance to become national champions.
