Game Summary :
Inter league action paired the current league leaders in their respective divisions. The Humber Pilots are currently top of Division 1 with a 13 -2 record before today. The Liverpool Trojans currently top the National League North with a 15 - 1 record. The Pilots diamond was out of action, so the fixture was switched to Bootle Stadium.
The Trojans, playing as the away team, hit first. A base hit from Waisome, gave Godsall the RBI opportunity, and the Trojans were on the board. A two run shot from Pilots pitcher, Arron Von Lindern stunned Liverpool and let them know they were in a game.
A series of errors by the Humber infield gave the Trojans an opportunity to start a rally. The onslaught began with RBI's for Ivan Peychev and Martin Godsall. The rally continued as the Trojans batted through the order, Paul Mason, having a good day with the bat, hit a 2 run triple to top an 8 run inning for the Trojans. Martin Godsall settled into a good rhythm and retired the side in order to end the second.
Despite the occasional flurry from the Pilots, Martin Godsall always manage to pitch his way of of a jam. The Liverpool offence kept pace with any threat, and further 3 runs in the top of the fifth kept the Pilots at arm's length.
Andy Wiltshire replaced Von Lindern on the mound and managed to keep the score respectable, as the Pilots chipped away at the Trojans lead. Liverpool were in cruise control however, Mike Waisome driving in the final run of the game.
