Game 1 Summary :
At last some baseball weather, thought we'd never see the sun again. The Liverpool Trojans took on bottom placed Halton Jaguars at their place. Halton started brightly and seemed to be hitting Martin Godsall at will. A couple of untidy errors by the Trojans loaded the bases for the Jaguars. A big hit for Halton cleared the bases as the Trojans gave up 3 unearned runs.

The Trojans seem to relish a challenge, and came out in the second with all guns firing. Godsall started the inning with a base hit, followed by a walk from Blease. Nesbitt drove home the first run of the inning with a base hit, and with the bases loaded, Dave Mercado hit a double to drive in 2 more. Mike Waisome, always a threat with men on bases, hit a stand up double to give the Trojans a 5 -3 lead.

Despite Godsall's slow start, he then went on to retire the next nine batters in a row, putting the Trojans firmly in command. The Jags did come within three, following a 2 run fifth, but the Trojans covered the move with a six run inning of their own to kill off any hope of a comeback from Halton.

The score doesn't really represent the effort the Jaguars put into the game. They played well in spells and deserved more from the game than the score line indicates.

Game 2 Summary :
The Liverpool Trojans didn't want a repeat of the first game's opening inning, and quickly got to work. Alert base running by Dave Mercado, coming home on a wild pitch, gave the Trojans their first run. Paul Smith stepped up with two men on and hit a base clearing triple. Smith was then tagged out at home following another wild pitch. Carl Cuthbert kept the pressure on with an RBI single for the fourth run. The Trojans left the bases loaded with Rob Orme flying out to end a productive first inning for the Trojans.

Mike Waisome, pitching for the Trojans, contained Halton to single run innings and was never in any difficulty, despite the string of errors from the Trojans infielders. Maybe the sun was in their eyes.

Liverpool always had control of the game largely due to some powerful hitting from Mercado, Waisome and Smith. If this form continues, the Trojans look certain to qualify for the National League Final 4's, where the top 4 teams in the country compete for the national title.
