Game 1 Summary :
Liverpool's season got off to a flyer with a convincing victory over the Birmingham Maple Leafs. The Maple Leafs were crowned Midland Champions in 2005/2006, as well as finishing runners up in the 2005 UK Division 1 Final 4 Championships, and 3rd in the 2006 Premier League Final 4 UK Championships.

Martin Godsall was in no mood for hospitality however, and quickly retired the first six batters he faced. The Trojans went down in order in the first inning, but stormed ahead in the second to build a commanding lead. Despite some good pitching from Birmingham starter, Stuart, the Trojans offence was too hot to handle. Doubles from Mercado, Godsall, Waisome, Ridley and Orme kept the pressure on.

The Maple Leafs rallied in the fifth to load the bases, however the Trojans defense kept their nerve and kept the shutout alive. Martin Godsall limited Birmingham to just two hits demonstrating he's still a force to be reckoned with in British baseball.

Game 2 Summary :
The second game of the double header was a more competative affair, largely due to some good defensive play from the home team. Ben Ridley, starting his first game for the Trojans got off to a solid start, but soon ran into trouble in the second when a two run homer from Nick Burt, opened up a slender lead for the Maple Leafs.

A 5-4-3 double play got the Trojans out of trouble as the Maple Leafs extended their lead in the bottom of the third. The Trojans drew closer in the top of the forth, then tied the game with a two run shot from player/manager, Mike Waisome, in the fifth. Ridley soon settled into a groove and started to shut the Maple Leafs offence down. The go ahead run was scored by Paul Smith in the sixth from a well hit double from Harry Wren.

Ben Ridley then showed great Trojans spirit to hold on to a one run lead for the remaining two innings, striking out four of the last six batters he faced. The Maple Leafs had the tying run on third with two down in the bottom of the seventh, but the Trojans defense held on with Rob Orme taking the final out off a big fly to center field.
