| The Liverpool Trojans see the end of an era as big Mike Waisome makes the tough decision to return to the Big Apple.
Mike joined the Trojans in 2004 along with buddy Carlos Cruz, on the back of a sponsored package funded by the BBF.
While Carlos chose to return home at the end of the season, Mike found it hard to break away from the continued success of the Liverpool team. A combination of genuine hospitality from the Orme's, an apparition in a Brighton B&B and the strong bonds he developed in sport, music and his personal liaisons, ensured Mike was committed to the Trojans and Liverpool for more than just one season.
Mike made a massive contribution to the team, both as coach and player, eventually taking the helm as team manager. The team will sorely miss his presence both on and off the field. Norman Wells, club president, commented that he thought Mike was probably one of the best Trojan players he has seen in his 65 years of involvement in British baseball.
The Trojans wish Mike every success for the future, and look forward to his return for the 2010 season!!! |
